The drawing process has enabled me to approach another level of investigation of the photographic image. In my early drawing work, I made a large-scale 8x8’, projection of my photographs and traced the gesture, basic form and elemental line that convey the essence of the image. The photograph is a surface like the skin and the drawing acts like an x-ray allowing me to see the layer below the surface.
     Later drawings were done without the aid of my photographs but rather inspired from my imagination and intuition. They were created the months before the birth of my son in January of 2008.
